Natural Hair And Skin Care Products Revealed

Hair and skin care products made with plant extracts, natural oil and fruit juices are always in demand because only natural beauty products can preserve your beauty. Clinically made beauty products come at a cost. They not only drain nutrients from skin and hair but also block the skin pores and break the hair. On the other hand, natural shampoos and creams nourish skin and hair", said the Proprietor Wisely Made Inc., a natural beauty products manufacturing company. She further said that it is only natural ingredients that can safely keep your skin and hair healthy forever. They provide complete nourishment to your skin and hair.

Natural Hair And Skin Care Products

Females in general, especially teenage girls, try many creams and shampoos in order to look beautiful and attractive. But little do they know that by using chemical rich beauty products, they are doing no good to their body. "Girls write to us about allergies and side effects of using clinically developed beauty products. We tell them to stop using that artificial stuff at once and switch to natural hair and skin care products after a few days", said the spokes person of Wisely Made Inc. Young girls should get into the habit of naturally caring for their skin and hair at an early age. In doing so there is less exposure (many of the toxins cause reproductive issues), allergy issues and unnecessary side effects.
Unaware about the side effects of artificial beauty products, people continue to use them hoping that these products will prevent formation of wrinkles on their face and untimely graying of hair. You may find these products useful for first few months but after using it for a considerable period, you may find they have done no good to you and your body. Natural hair and skin care products, on the other hand, nourish the skin and hair from inside", said the Senior Scientist.

"The beauty products we make contain no artificial preservatives, colors, fragrances or chemical additives like sulfates and petroleum and its byproducts," revealed the owner of Wisely Made Inc. She maintains that girls should choose one brand and should continue using that brand for a considerable period. With natural hair and skin care products, you are less likely to have any allergic or side effects. These beauty products are suitable for people of all ages as they are made from natural things. There is need to educate people about the advantages of using natural skin and hair care stuff.

Beauty and Skin Care Treatment - The Simple Way to Keep a Healthy Skin

Skin, beauty and health are highly interrelated, if you lack of skin health, blemishes, wrinkles, dyes, fine lines and imperfections will show up. Every day millions of people look for beauty products and treatments to look beautiful, they want to cover up imperfections and look great.

However if you are looking for a quick solution you will end up harming your skin, common cosmetic products and treatments contain hard substances and chemicals that are not healthy for your skin and your body. For example there are products that help to cover up imperfections, but they are made with alcohol and other substances that dry the skin and cause more wrinkles.

You have to also be careful with skin care treatments, ask your dermatologist for the best option for your skin type, don't undergo risky treatments, the best ones are always natural.

But now, more people are switching to natural beauty products and treatments that help to improve the skin from the inside out, by using natural ingredients the nutrients will get deep in to the 7 layers of your skin. This cleans your pores and protect your skin from free radicals that damage the skin.

Natural beauty creams are not easy to find, you can find some of them in department stores, but they usually contain a high percentage of chemicals, so be careful and stay away from substances like parabens, alcohol, petrolatum, mineral oil and others.

The best natural creams I have used come from New Zealand and are made with the best organic ingredients from different parts of the world. Ingredients like CynergyTK, Wakame Kelp and Coenzyme Q10 reverse the effects of aging and protect your skin. Also avocado extract, manuka honey, jojoba oil, grape seed oil and vitamin c are important to keep your skin looking smooth and soft.

The Price of Beauty and Cost of Cosmetic Surgery

Achieving perfection in the beauty department is close to possible through cosmetic surgery. However, you might want to fill your stash with thousands of dollars because beauty comes with a high price tag.

Cosmetic surgery has been popular with women, but its popularity has also affected the male gender who wants to improve their looks. Because of people's desire to look better, this has caused the cosmetic surgery business a billion dollar industry. Though not everyone can spare the money needed for such procedures, there are economical places to have it done without compromising the results and safety.

The table below shows some of the popular cosmetic procedures and how much it could cost you. Please bear in mind that the figures may not be exact as prices may vary depending on the work that needs to be done. Do take note that this table is just for the purpose of having a general reference that is subjected to change anytime; furthermore, the table also aims to help readers formulate relevant questions that they might need to ask their surgeon especially when it comes to price quotation. In addition to that, please take note that some procedures like Liposuction can be done in different parts of the body and so prices may vary as well.
Procedure, Description, Price

Liposuction -Removes the extra fat in different parts of the body. The three types are tumescent, ultrasonic and super-wet. $1,500 to $15,000
Rhinoplasty-This procedure mends or modifies the nose. $3,000-$8,000
Breast Lift-This procedure lifts and gives better shapes to breasts that are sagging. $3,000-$4,000
Brow lift-The traditional way of performing brow lift plastic surgery is with an incision from one ear to the other over the top of the head. This is associated with a big scar and hair loss. 2,000-$8,000
Chin Augmentation- This procedure can be as simple as injecting a temporary soft tissue augmentation filler to insert a silicone or Porex chin implant, thus resulting to genioplasty. $1,600-$2,400
Eyelid Surgery-Surgical modification of the eyelid. Excess tissue such as skin and fat are removed or repositioned, and surrounding muscles and tendons may be reinforced. It can be both a functional and cosmetic surgery. $1,500-$7,000
Facelift-This procedure is used to give a more youthful appearance. It usually involves the removal of excess facial skin, with or without the tightening of underlying tissues, and the red raping of the skin on the patient's face and neck. $4,500-$6,500
Tummy Tuck-This procedure aims to achieve a firm belly. The surgery involves the removal of excess skin and fat from the middle and lower abdomen in order to tighten the muscle and fascia of the abdominal wall. $3,000-$10,000

Just like Michael Jackson, some people seem to have all the money in the world to splurge on every cosmetic procedure available. Though nothing is wrong with that, just don't forget that there are some things in life which could make you a happier and a better person. Beauty may be something, but it's not everything; because people who truly love you see the inner beauty in you and no amount of in the world can buy unconditional love.

Lancome - Perfumes and Cosmetics Empire

Talk about beauty and cosmetics and for sure, experts would raise the name of the world's biggest beauty and cosmetics firm, L'Oreal Group. From the world's beauty and fashion capital, Paris in France, comes the company that focuses on bringing to consumers the best brands for skin and hair care. When it comes to perfumes, the company surely would not be left behind. Its Lancome Paris unit manufactures Lancome perfumes that are truly among the most patronized and loved all around the world.

Imitation, as they say, is the greatest form of compliment. One proof that Lancome perfumes are well received and are loved the world over is the rampant selling of counterfeit and imitated forms of the items.

Anti-counterfeit regulators and experts from all around the planet identify Lancome perfumes as one of the top perfume brands that are imitated, counterfeited and sold to the mass market in important cities in Asia and Europe. Though the illegal transactions are harming the business, Lancome says the imitations affirm the brand's reliability and popularity.

The initial Lancome perfumes were introduced to the market in 1935. It was in Brussels where the first five of the fragrances were launched. Those fragrances were Tropiques, Bocages, Kypre, Tendre Nuit and Conquete. L'Oreal acknowledges the fact that the perfumes were what made Lancome what it is today---a famous brand not just of perfumes but also of skincare and cosmetics products. Thus, Lancome perfumes are important products and have always been considered assets of Lancome Paris.

Through the years, Lancome perfumes were able to withstand the tests of time. After being known as a premium brand of fragrances, Lancome have been among the top choices for scents by celebrities and the opulent. Numerous fragrance lines and names have been launched and introduced by Lancome.

Among them is Magie Noire, which is considered one of the most celebrated and popular women's perfumes of all times. Unfortunately, because selling the fragrances through conventional means became challenging to the margins, Lancome decided to start selling them through online shopping sites. The initiative only made the line among the most sought-after and most priced catches.

Back to the problem of imitated and fake Lancome perfumes, the company is taking measures to crack down on those businesses that propagate and distribute such items. What is more interesting is the fact that fake Lancome perfumes are among the most purchased. To Lancome, that means people from all across the globe love the brand.

Because of high costs of buying the items, some consumers resort to buying the imitation Lancome perfumes because doing so brings them the opportunity to enjoy and wear the premium fragrance.

Lancome is indeed one of the most patronized perfumes that are out in the market. As fashionistas keep on buying and using Lancome cosmetics and skincare items, they surely are also out to put on their Lancome perfumes. Truly, Lancome perfumes can be classified as among the top prides of Paris. There is no doubt about it.

Why Discount Cosmetics Products Are So Cheap Online

It often happens that the discount cosmetics products that you can buy online are a whole lot cheaper than the discounts products you can buy in a store. The reason for that is because they are able to buy the items in bulk at a much better rate than your normal retailer. You do, however, need to keep a few important things in mind before you start buying all the best deals that you find on the internet. The internet is not always going to be a safe place to buy things and that is especially true when you consider how you have to give out your credit card details every time you want to buy something. Not only do you have to worry about the payment problems, but you also have to ensure that your cosmetics arrive as promised and that the actual products themselves are the real thing.

Fortunately, there are ways to make sure that your purchase is legitimate and that you are getting the discount cosmetics products that you pay for. The fact that the prices for the discounted items are low doesn't always guarantee you are getting the best possible product for the money you are spending. Sometimes the discounts are available because the make-up is inferior or it has expired. They sometimes sell the products under a brand name when it is actually a generic, and they hope that you will not notice it. In these instances you need to make sure that they have a solid returns policy and that you can get your money back if you are not entirely satisfied with what you have bought. You should be able to check and see if they have a reputable payment option available to you and that you have the recourse if you want to send the stuff back to them. Never give out your financial information to anyone if you do not know who they are and where the money is going. Ideally you want to check to see what payment options they have on the cite before you make the purchase. If they are guaranteed to be safe then you at least have some security about your purchase.

If you want to make sure that you will get what you pay for, then you can always make your purchase through a big brand name that has a reputation to uphold. That way you know that they will do what they can to make a customer happy. You will not have to worry about your money and you certainly will not have to worry about inferior products.

Recent Trends in Plastic and Cosmetic Surgery in Denmark

Plastic and cosmetic surgery in Denmark, or "plastik og kosmetisk kirurgi", as it is termed in local parlance, is gaining increasing popularity in the country. It is, but one, of the myriad manifestations of the health and fitness drive. The economic boom witnessed by the country, in the past few years, has also made the affordability factor less of a consideration. Indulgence in cosmetic beautification has gripped the young and elderly, both men and women, and touched towns, cities and the countryside, all alike.

Already about 320,000 Danes have been under the knife, in other words, 8 % of the total adult population of Denmark - and the numbers are projected to rise even further. Latest research indicates a 20 % to 30 % projected increase in the coming years of the number of Danes looking for cosmetic surgery. Interestingly, every fifth female over the age of 17 is actively considering getting cosmetic surgery done, whereas every tenth female has already had cosmetic surgery done. Eighty percent of all Danes find the notion of cosmetic surgery fully acceptable. At present, about 30,000 cosmetic surgeries, per annum, are performed nationwide.

What is even more fascinating is that men account for a significant proportion of all cosmetic surgeries performed in Denmark. Every third Dane who has undergone or is contemplating cosmetic surgery is a male. Five percent of the adult Danish male population, about 100,000 has been under the knife, and 15% to 25% of the patients at plastic and cosmetic surgery clinics are indeed male, many of whom are the metrosexual varieties.

The types of plastic and cosmetic surgeries in Denmark that generate the greatest patient interest are related to the breast treatments, eyelids, nose, liposuction, laser hair removal, abdomen and stomach, and last but not least, face-lifts.

The surge in interest in cosmetic surgeries is putting pressure on the Danish public healthcare system in a number of ways: (i) the brightest of plastic and cosmetic surgeons are defecting into private practice, thus reducing the talent pool within the public domain; and (ii) the costs of certain plastic and cosmetic surgeries performed in private hospitals are still being paid for by the public system - such as eyelid surgery, breast reduction and obesity surgery, where patients can easily claim that surgery is necessary to the healthy functioning of the body, and not due to any cosmetic concerns. According to Danish law, all cosmetic surgeries are to be financed privately by individuals, however, this grey zone of interpreting what is cosmetic versus what is essential to the healthy functioning of the body, has begun to tax the Danish public budget. Given the recent increase in the interest in cosmetic surgery, this problem is bound to worsen. In all likelihood, the Danish public healthcare system will have to put its foot down and refuse paying for such grey zone surgeries. If this happens, clearly, the demand for cosmetic surgeries at private hospitals will further rise, and hence, as will the waiting periods. To illustrate, one of the most famous private hospitals in Copenhagen, Hamlet Privathospital, has increased its revenues from cosmetic surgery three-fold in the past six years. However, the waiting period, in certain cases at private hospitals, can be as long as two-and-a-half months, from initial consultation to actual treatment.

Traditionally, cosmetic surgery has never been fully covered, if at all, by medical insurance, whether in Denmark or in most parts of the world. And, therefore, as is common knowledge, it can be an expensive undertaking. The cost of plastic and cosmetic surgery in Denmark is expensive. To quote a few examples of private hospital prices:

(i) Eyelid Surgery: ranges from DKK 7,000 to DKK 13,000 (USD 1,100 to USD 2,100)

(ii) Breast reconstruction: the surgery can cost from anywhere upwards of DKK 65,000 (USD 10,800);

(iii) Liposuction of the stomach: DKK 21,500 (USD 3,500);

(iv) Laser Hair Removal: DKK 12,000 (USD 2000)

(v) Hair Transplant: ranges from DKK 40,000 to DKK 350,000 (USD 6,600 to USD 58,000)

High cost of plastic and cosmetic surgery and significant waiting periods, has led to a notable growth in medical travel to other countries where the cost of the same treatment is lower and, therefore, more affordable for Danes. Popular treatment destinations include Turkey, Poland and Hungary. An increasing number of Danes have also now begun traveling to Asia, where they can draw the benefits of both excellent surgical treatment at the most competitive rates, combined with the option of making the trip a leisure and holiday journey. Now, given the waiting lists for cosmetic surgery even at private hospitals in Denmark, it is only natural for Danes to continue traveling abroad for treatment.

India may well be the next destination for medical tourists from Denmark. Cost of medical treatment in India for foreigners is one of the cheapest in the world, if not the most competitive. In Asia, it surpasses the cost advantages of even Thailand and Singapore. Quality of treatment is world-class, second to none, and at par, if not superior, in cases, to treatment available in the United States and the United Kingdom. In 2002, the number of foreign patients who traveled to India for treatment was 150,000. In 2005, the same figure was close to 500,000. Travel to India for medical treatment is gaining momentum - India is a fast-growing centre for tourism offering the wonders of resplendent cultural richness with the magic of India's natural beauty. Patients are now also able to combine travel to India for medical treatment with a uniquely fulfilling holiday.

American Women, Beauty, and the Economy

Today's American society is one that is in the depths of a recession. Many people have been affected in a very personal way. There have been may lost jobs, homes foreclosed on, incomes reduced, and stress is up. Many would say that the US economy could easily head from the recession into a deep depression worse than was experienced in the 1920's. In times like these people are cutting back in their spending habits and the doing the best that they can to just keep up and create any kind of stability that they can.

In the daily reality of the tough times that people face, there are some interesting things that American women do to help themselves relieve stress. Studies have shown that Women tend to indulge themselves in cosmetics, such as Nu Skin, Mary Kay, and Maybelline when the economy goes down. Though this is an interesting and weird fact, it does make a lot of sense. Times are tough and very stressful, and this is one way that women can relieve stress without spending a lot of money.

Another possible explanation is the opportunity to make money by selling cosmetics, such Nu Skin and Mary Kay. In a tough economy, many people are looking for ways to make extra cash wherever they can. So it makes perfect sense that cosmetic sales would go up as well then in a downturn in the economy.

Whether the reason for an increase in cosmetic sales is a desire to spurge and relieve stress, or a desire to make extra income, either way it the fact is that it is good to be in cosmetic sales in a down economy.

The Raw Foodist's 7 Steps to Beautiful and Radiant Skin (Part I)

Having healthy, dewy skin is our birthright. The miracle of Life is that we all have the innate ability to look, feel and be at our best, since Existence.

Our human body is nothing short of an incredible piece of art; an amazing symphony of millions of continuous bio-chemical processes to protect, rejuvenate and heal us.

Do you know that the skin is the largest organ in the human body? Its appearance reflects how clean and well the body is functioning internally.

When our body is unable to get rid of toxins the normal way (eg excretion and perspiration), it will use the skin for elimination!

This is like shoving rubbish out through the window instead of taking the garbage out the door! But the good news is - you can start having beautiful skin right away now, just by making sensible diet and lifestyle changes.

1) Aim for a minimum of 80% raw fruits, greens and vegetables in your diet

You are what you eat! Building your body is no different from building your house, you want to use the best materials so that it is strong, resistant and beautiful.

Increasing your consumption of fresh, clean foods works wonders for the skin. Aim for a minimum of 80% and more if possible. Live enzymes occur naturally in all living and unprocessed foods; these enzymes are destroyed when foods are cooked at a temperature of 47 degrees Celsius and more.

What are enzymes? Put simply, they are the catalysts for all bio-chemical processes in the body. Consuming foods with live enzymes are vital for digestion, assimilation of nutrients and play an indispensable role in reversing and fighting aging.

No pill or supplement can replace the magical, life-giving enzymes and nutrients in raw living foods. Although pills can help alleviate some deficiency symptoms, but why settle for second best when you can have the real thing!

2) Consume at least 500g of fresh and uncooked dark leafy greens and 1 Tbs of ground flaxseeds everyday

If 500 g is too much to consume at one time, there are various ways to eat them. You can invest in a juicer and consume these greens in the form of juices (mixed with a little bit of fruit juices), or blend them into green smoothies. Green smoothies are fantastic meals on their own!

Green Smoothies are the best skin food ever because they are packed with skin boosting anti-oxidants, easily digestible and taste delicious! Throw in some ground flaxseeds and you have a natural powerhouse of vitamins, minerals and the essential Omega-3 fats to give you that smooth radiant glow.

Or, if you prefer your greens in the form of a salad, simply toss a salad together with your leaves, fruit veggies like tomatoes or corn, hempseeds, sliced avocados, miso or a little balsamic vinegar.

3) Exercise a minimum of 3 times a week

If it's not possible to work out everyday, aim for at least 3 times a week. Why is exercise important?

First of all, exercise keeps our metabolism, hormonal cycles and cardiovascular health in check - which are all important for the body's overall well-being. And secondly, besides elimination and urination, perspiration is another form of elimination of toxins from the body.

When the body is balanced, all bio-chemical processes are regulated and lymph glands are functioning properly. Skin condition, which is a reflection of the body's well-being, will also improve.

4) Stay away from alcohol, caffeine and nicotine

After you ingest these substances, the body treats them as intoxicants and struggles to get rid of them. They place a strain on internal organs and create havoc to the whole body system over time.

Many TCM physicians advised that skin diseases are actually a sign of an overburdened liver. The liver is the strongest and most amazing organ of the body, yet it is the most neglected. It is responsible for almost all bio-chemical processes in the body - including detoxification and cleansing.

When the liver is burdened with detoxifying external intoxicants like alcohol, its effectiveness in carrying out normal metabolic functions can be greatly compromised. If you can eliminate all these completely, there will be a noticeable improvement in skin texture.

5) Sleep

Ever noticed how fresh you look after a well-rested night of sleep? During those hours of snooze, your skin repairs and rejuvenates itself.

Adequate sleep is extremely underrated in today's society. No matter what superfoods, lifestyle or how much raw foods you eat, nothing can undo the harms of chronic sleep deprivation.

Sleep requirements may vary among individuals. As a general guideline, aim for a minimum of 8 hours per night. Or, a better indicator may be to sleep until you feel well rested. If you feel the need to, simply rest more. Increase snooze time by getting into bed early and arranging your appointments out of the way.

6) Limit use of cosmetics, skin care and shampoo products which contains harmful chemicals

Many conventional cosmetics, skin care and shower products are heavily laden with manufactured ingredients, some of which can bring more harm than good.

Before you purchase the next bottle of skin care of the shelf, read the ingredients carefully first. Anything that goes onto our skin goes into our body eventually too. And so, we want to be as selective about what we put on our body as what we put in our body.

7) Hydrate

Drinking enough clean water is a must for anybody who wishes to have crystal clear complexion. There are a good number of reliable water filters for home installation today in Singapore. Just check out your nearest superstores or do an online Google search for water purifiers. If you don't drink clean water, your kidney has to do the extra filtering! So help your body out by doing the first layer of filtering externally.

If you stay in tropical weather, aim for at least 8 big glasses a day, and more if you perspire through additional physical activity.

Water is needed for all chemical functions carried out by your magnificent body, and most importantly, to flush out the toxins from the system.

Remember that for all positive diet and lifestyle changes, the hardest part is the beginning.

Once you adopt this new way of life, there is no turning back because you will love how good you look.

And you will also start to love every minute of life!

Join me today and claim your right to beautiful skin; its really as easy as taking an extra minute before you eat your next meal.

Certified Organic Cosmetics - The Healthy Option

If you are like most people, the use of cosmetics and personal care products is an everyday affair. We touch up our faces with make-up, use face cream and other skin improvement products.

We have learnt to trust the corporations that provide health and beauty products because most governments dictate the processes that protect people from harmful substances - don't they?

Unfortunately this assumption is only half correct.

The government aims to protect people from harmful drugs and medications taken orally by screening the results from drug companies. However, since the cosmetics industries do not provide substances to be taken within the body, there are only a few restrictions for a product to be considered 'safe' enough for sale in your supermarket or drug store.

For instance, the US cosmetics industry's own safety review panel has assessed only 11 per cent of the 10,500 ingredients contained in health and beauty products available in stores today.

According to the FDA:

"Cosmetics and their ingredients are not required to undergo approval before they are sold. Manufacturers can use any ingredient, except for 10 prohibited substances, without government review."

With only 10 substances being banned for use on the skin, what is the impact of the others being used by cosmetics companies?

European laws are much tougher, but even the UK governments currently only ban 1200 toxic chemicals.

How are chemicals used in cosmetics and skin care products affecting you?

WHY YOUR SKIN IS IMPORTANT

Your skin is the largest eliminatory organ in the body. It is a two-way membrane. Toxins are eliminated out through the skin via perspiration and absorbed into your body's systemic circulation, through hair follicles and sebaceous glands. One square inch of skin contains 65 hairs and 100 sebaceous glands.

That means if you put a chemical compound on your skin your body is likely to absorb it.

The principle behind HRT and Nicotine patches is that they absorb into your skin. And it is precisely by absorption that you receive other unwanted chemicals and toxins found in cosmetic applications.

Long time exposure for people who don't remove chemicals properly means they accumulate toxins that can contribute to health problems.

Most scientists agree at least 80% of the 200 different types of cancer known today are related to toxins and carcinogens from synthetic and toxic chemicals.

A UK study discovered traces of methylparabens (a synthetic chemical commonly used in body creams, lotions, washes, anti perspirants and deodorants) in breast cancer tumours, and a poll of 150,000 Americans found even low doses of chemicals to have a huge impact on brain health.

The bottom line is the more cosmetics you use on your skin, the more chemicals you absorb.

According to The Environmental Working Group:

More than one-third of all personal care products contain at least one ingredient linked to cancer

57 percent contain "penetration enhancer" chemicals that can drive other ingredients faster and deeper into the skin to the blood vessels below.

70 percent of all products contain ingredients that may contain harmful impurities such as known carcinogens, according to FDA or industry reviews.

THE ALTERNATIVE: CERTIFIED ORGANICS

The impurities in cosmetics are not restricted within the personal care products industry.

As you can see health and beauty do not always go hand in glove which is why you need to seek out 100% synthetic chemical-free and toxin-free cosmetics and skin care products.

Fortunately there is a range made from purely natural organic ingredients, many of which are Certified Organic to Food Standards. This means you could even eat them and they wouldn't do you any harm - but please don't take that as a recommendation.

Currently these are the only skin care products on the planet to have submitted to independent 3rd party certification. This means the quality and integrity of the products is ensured.

All the ingredients are food based and 100% beneficial. Unlike the majority of products on the market, which use dead inert bases, these products use all active ingredients. Their bio available nutrients feed and nourish the skin. More importantly there are NO harmful synthetic ingredients to create health problems. You have peace of mind.

Just as healthy nutrient rich organic food is more expensive than the cheap but nutritionally weak food most people consume, organic cosmetics and skin care products can initially appear more expensive than their toxic filled counterparts.

However, as the beneficial organic ingredients are so potent and active only small amounts are required making them very cost effective. Also the packaging is environmentally friendly and not wasteful of your planet's resources.

The healthy option and the solution to avoiding toxin exposure from your cosmetics and skin care products is to adopt a certified organics approach.

Beauty and Fragrance to Fit Your Personality

Many of us must have heard the phrase, "Beauty is only skin deep", but is it really only skin deep? Everyday you may be applying make up on your face not realizing that it blocks your skin pores. To bring out the real beauty of your facial skin, you must take time each day to cleanse and moisturize your skin. For women especially, wearing perfume helps give us presence and can make us seem more appealing. There are many kinds of perfumes available in today's market.

When choosing perfume, hair care and skin care products, make sure to select those that fit your personality best. We are all unique and different to one another. So are our skin tone and body fragrance. What suits your friend or even family member may not work well for you. Your individuality comes to life when choosing beauty products. You must find that perfect scent that suits your mind and body. It should work well for all occasions like work and social events. Only use one fragrance at a time. Using several will totally change the scent of the other and have a negative effect. As the saying goes, "too many cooks spoil the broth".

Choose a fragrance that is subtle and pleasant. You just need to dab or spray a little on various areas of your body. You also need to keep in mind that factors such as skin type, clothing detergent and other fragrant cosmetics will affect the scent of your perfume. Beauty products are available everywhere. More recently many online stores have opened, which makes it all the easier for you to make your purchase. Of course the drawback would be you can't try the perfume. Make sure you've done your research before making a purchase. Often you can find all the products you need online, even at a discount. Many men's fragrance products are available like cologne, body spray, deodorant, and hair care products. Keep in mind never to rub a fragrance on the skin as this will break down its various compounds. You should not spray fragrance into the hair as many fragrances contain alcohol, they could dry out and damage your hair.

To ensure that your scent remains on you throughout the day, layer the fragrance instead of reapplying over and over again. Layering refers to the use of other body products that contain the same scents like shower gels, body mists, and skin lotions. Many brands offer layering options with just the right scent dosage. Fragrances come in a variety of concentrations, which include oils, perfumes, eau de toilettes, and colognes.

I would like to give you some ideas on how to buy the right fragrance. The first step to locate the right fragrance is to find out what you want from your scent. If you want a strong smell that can hold its fragrance throughout the day, then you should choose oil. Next, never purchase a fragrance without first trying it out. If possible try to obtain free trial samples of the fragrance you are considering and try it out. If you can't get trial samples, visit the stores that have the scent you want and use a tester. Remember to test the scent in the middle of the day because according to fragrance experts, it is the time of day when the sense of smell is most active.

It is important to know how to wear the fragrance properly. The key here is to never overdo it, particularly when you are using an oil or perfume. Beauty and fragrance go hand in hand and it has become an integral part in the lives of many women today.

The Truth About Beauty

Why this fascination with beauty?

The demand for beauty services in spite of the economy?

Even when there is a recession, beauty parlours still flourish. Beauty products still fly off the shelves.

There is this saying that beauty is skin deep.

Then again, first impressions count.

Put it this way. Beauty is power. That was true centuries ago. That is true today.

When a beautiful woman walks into a bar, men flock to her and offer to buy her drinks. When an unattractive woman walks into the same bar, chances are, she would have to buy her own drinks.

A beautiful salesperson, man or woman is more likely to win the sale. Between a beautiful job seeker and an unattractive one, all other things being equal, the employer is likely to choose the good looker.

Like it or not, looks do count.

In the past, when women were dependent on men to support them, beauty was everything to a woman. A beautiful woman would have more suitors. She would be able to marry up. To marry a rich man who could take care of all her financial needs and that of her children. Long before commercial cosmetics existed, mothers would instruct their daughters on traditional beauty remedies. Simple beauty remedies like using mayonnaise as a moisturizer, or egg white as a firming mask were often used by women in the days before commercial cosmetics.

Then along came women entrepreneurs like Estee Lauder [http://www.womanht.com/esteelauder/] and other women from around the world. They converted traditional beauty recipes which worked for themselves into beauty creams that they sold to other women. Every woman has a right to look her most beautiful and these women were selling others their beauty secrets.

Make up was used to paint women's faces. In Egypt, the nobles, royalty and the well off would paint their eyes with khol, with crushed beetles and exotic ingredients. In Europe, women would paint their faces with make up containing toxic mercury for the sake of beauty. In Japan, the geishas would whiten their faces with creams that contain nightingale droppings.

You would think by now, we modern women would have learnt our lesson. Now, we just inject poison into our faces to paralyze our facial muscles in order to prevent expression lines from deepening as we grow older. Think of those botox injections done every 3 months to erase those wrinkles. Think of the acids we smear on our faces to smoothen them. The dermabrasion procedures done at the dermatologist in order to smoothen our skin.

Women all over the world have always been willing to suffer for the sake of beauty. Long ago, in China, women in wealthy families would bind their feet. The Chinese back then view tiny feet as beautiful, so little girls have their feet bound, to prevent them from growing big and ugly. Now that long legs are considered beautiful, some women go through a very painful medical procedure that breaks their legs, and stretches their legs by a few millimeters a day through a painful device until they attain the height they want. With their newfound height, these girls can look forward to a wealthy, glamorous future as an international model.

In Europe, centuries ago, wasp waists and curvy bodies were considered beautiful, so corsets were worn to make the waist look much smaller. These were tied so tightly that women faint easily. All for the sake of beauty. Now, corsets are in again. These days, women and men subject themselves to surgery to attain the beauty they desire. Liposuction to remove the excess fat to contour the body. Breast augmentation for bigger breasts that are considered beautiful. Nose jobs, face lifts, the works.

Thankfully, there is also a return to natural beauty remedies. This time, commercial cosmetics use natural ingredients that women have used for centuries in the home beauty preparations. These are effective and great for the skin.

What we women really should do is to focus on inner beauty, and to keep ourselves healthy.
Health is beauty.

8 to 10 hours of sleep every night, fresh food, fresh air, daily exercise, drinking plenty of water every day, soap and water, or cleanser and toner, moisturizer where necessary and sun protection all day long. All that keeps your body healthy and your skin and hair, beautiful. Oh, and learn to age gracefully. After all, aging is a natural process in life.

How Cosmetic Surgery Is Able To Improve How You Look And How You Live

The techniques used in Cosmetic surgery have been around for quite some time. Thousands of years ago, people in India, Rome and Egypt (amongst other areas) were performing operations to enhance the aesthetic beauty of human beings for a number of different reasons. Some reasons were completely narcissistic, other reasons included needing to have an ear repaired after being in a bloody battle.

Today cosmetic surgery is primarily used to help people achieve a level of beauty that wasn't possible thousands of years ago. What people consider beautiful, today, has changed a lot throughout the years and advancements in medical technology. These days, most people find thinner, younger looking bodies to be what's considered attractive. This look is highly coveted, by many people who choose to go under the knife.

Nose jobs are pretty common and have been around for quite some time. At one time having procedures done was something most people wanted to avoid talking about. It was something a lot of people were ashamed to admit having done, but with the increased popularity of these procedures, more and more people are finding it less and less embarrassing to admit.

Talking about plastic surgery in this day of age has become almost as commonplace as talking about what you may have had for dinner. Celebrities seem to play a big part in how the rest of the world feels about having "work done". Once people saw their favorite movie stars coming out and saying "Yep, I had this and that done", and didn't seem to exhibit any humiliation from discussing it. More people seemed to find the idea a little more appealing and a little less intimidating.

There are all kinds of procedures a person can have done today. Just about anything you perceive to be wrong with your body, can be modified into something that's more to your liking. Whether it's breast augmentation, a nose job, liposuction, or a face-lift, it's possible now to become someone who looks completely different from the person they started out as. It's also possible just to have some minor touch-ups done, if you don't like the idea of a total body make-over.

If you think you're too short, it's even possible to have a procedure to make you a little taller. No matter what the perceived imperfection may be, today there is a way to remedy it.

There are risks involved, as with any surgery. Weighing the risks of anesthesia and possible problems that may arise from the surgery itself is up to the patient to discuss with the surgeon. It may not be possible for some people to have certain operations done. If you smoke you will have to quit before surgery. Some surgeries require you to go on a diet and lose a little weight before the operation can be underway.

With the use of Cosmetic surgery, there is no need to hide from the world (that is until after any healing you have to do is complete). There is much debate on whether or not these surgeries are necessary for most people, but each individual has the right to choose how they wish to look, and if you have the means to get it done, there is no reason to let the opinions of others dissuade you from that decision.

Perfect Beauty - What It Is, And How To Get It

There is a fundamental problem in how most people view beauty. Experts say that we should not obsess about having the "perfect" body or the "perfect" look. They could not be more WRONG. We should instead consider, what is perfect? Who decided what perfect is? And what is the ulterior motive or hidden agenda to the promotion of this so-called "perfection"? The truth of the matter is that there is no such thing as perfect. There never was, and there never will be. What women are killing themselves for is not perfection, but a mere set of arbitrary standards. This standardization was put forth by some forces that have no interest in womens' health or well being.

I don't know about you, but I am not a bathtub or a bed sheet that is required to be a certain size or shape to meet its purpose. Did you ever wonder who creates the ridiculous beauty standards like a certain hair color or body shape? How can it possibly be that only one set of standards constitutes beautiful, so too bad for the rest of us? Who decides what the "perfect nose" looks like? The nose we should all aspire to have, regardless of our many other features? Magazines earn their billions of dollars in advertising revenues from cosmetics companies who make their billions of dollars by selling us products to make our noses look more "perfect", or plastic surgeons who carve our noses into the "perfect" shape and size. Their strategy is to constantly keep women feeling inadequate and striving for some unattainable standards to keep sales up.

Consider this insanity: What if we had beauty standards for FLOWERS! What is a "perfect" flower? What if they said it is cotton candy pink, with 1.25-inch oblong petals, 3mm thick? So should we all run around and dye all the pretty yellow, orange, purple or white flowers in our gardens to match the cotton candy pink ones? And how about we go out there with our scissors and cut down the large petaled flowers or add petal extensions to the small petaled flowers so they meet the standard of 1.25 inches just so they can be considered "perfect"?

Stop this madness and appreciate the beauty you have. Blonde hair and a skinny ass are not beauty. Some beautiful people have blonde hair and a skinny ass, yes. But some butt-ugly people have blonde hair and a skinny ass. Some drop-dead gorgeous people do not have blonde hair or a skinny ass. Sets of standards absolutely cannot determine whether a person is beautiful or not. We don't do this with flowers, so why do it with yourself?

The external signs of beauty, such as clear skin, shiny hair, and strong nails are reflections of overall health. Happiness and confidence play a huge role in beauty. Joyful people tend to have a sparkle in their eyes and a special sensual magnetism that draws others to them regardless of what they look like. Taking care of yourself is the number one most important in manifesting outer beauty. Here is a step-by-step guide to freeing yourself from the clutches of the greedy beauty industry and getting started on enjoying your true beauty.

  • Completely and unequivocally shut down ALL commercial media as a reliable source for information about what is beautiful and what is not. Look at media as for entertainment purposes ONLY and assume that there is no truth whatsoever to the messages you will get from it about beauty. LAUGH OUT LOUD every time you see and hear messages of praise of certain looks and attempts to set up a specific female archetype such as, but not limited to things like, blonde hair, underweight bodies, and pointy chins. The same goes for the negative attempts at setting up the female archetype by excluding or rendering unacceptable other physical characteristics that do not fit into their ridiculous manufactured female (Barbie doll) archetype.

  • Remember that fat does not mean ugly and thin does not mean pretty.

  • Begin looking for beauty more subjectively. Look at each physical feature in perspective with all the other features. For example, you may not think that a wide nose may not look cute just by itself, but on the right smooth dark chocolate face, it will likely be absolutely gorgeous.

  • Be kind to yourself and others. Do not judge everyone you see. There is no need to avoid paying attention to looks altogether, but try not to constantly put primary emphasis on looks. Allow yourself to notice non-physical beauty in yourself and others.

  • Pick out your three least attractive features. Consider them carefully: Are your unfavorable thoughts about those features because they are really ugly to you? Or is it just because somebody else said it was ugly OR you heard somebody criticize a similar feature on someone else? Have you been told day in, day out, verbally or nonverbally, intentionally hurtful or not, that the feature in question is unacceptable simply because it is not on the list of "desirable" attributes determined by the industry? For example, attributes such as a front tooth gap, thick hair, freckles, or a succulent figure are by no means ugly, but the beauty industry wants you to think so in order to sell you something. Perhaps those least attractive features are not so bad after all. If they are indeed so bad, just get over it. Do not focus on them 24/7. You have many other things that make you beautiful.

  • Although it is fine to use cosmetics to enhance your looks, stop giving your money to companies that exclusively portray certain limited body types and characteristics as beautiful and expressly or impressly tell you that you are inadequate because you do not fit the standards that they themselves established. Stop buying products that rely on objectifying or exploiting womens' and girls' bodies to peddle their wares. And, go a step further and write to the companies and explain to them exactly why you are putting them out of business.

  • Look at online photos of celebrities without makeup. They will make you feel like a beauty queen! Have you seen Pamela Anderson sans the paint? Whoa.
Only you have the power to change your attitude about beauty and when you succeed and doing so, everyone around you will take notice. They won't know whether you got a haircut, whitened your teeth, or if you fell in love. All they will notice is that special glow emanating from you as a result of your newly found self-confidence and true beauty.

Girls - Enhance Your Natural Beauty With Cosmetics

Everybody knows that nothing could more important than somebody's natural beauty. It is something that can't be replaced! But you will be truly amazed by the fact that the good use of some well chosen cosmetics can lead to extraordinary changes.

Just remember how much you liked to experience with your mother's high heels, lipsticks, brushes or perfumes. And I am pretty sure that you are hiding some beauty products in your handbag now too. Beauty products are taking part of your everyday life. You can't get them away and why would you throw away something that enhances the way you feel, the way you look?

But it is not enough to have those products in your bag, you should also know how to apply them to obtain the best result. Fortunately there are many tips and useful information which you can easily access.

The first thing you should do is to search on the internet, if it is necessary, and try to match your skin type. This is very important in choosing the beauty potion or lotion that mostly fits your nature. Knowing what is necessary and knowing what you would like to purchase, you can have a nice shopping time.

Having all the products already, you should start the makeup procedure with usage of a cleanse lotion around you d├ęcolletage, neck and face. Then follows a toning lotion which aids in removing off excess cleanse and also tightens the pores, and a moisturizer.

Further, you can use a blemish stick and a concealing stick if it is necessary, then comes the foundation, which should be as close as possible in color to your skin tone. This step is similar to the method an artist might use before beginning work on a great masterpiece. After choosing also a natural color of powder, apply it in light even sweeps to the entire face.

The eyeshadow you choose depends whether on the occasion, but mostly on the color of your eyes, usually those with blue, grey and green eyes should choose a warmer palette, while those with dark eyes, whether brown or dark blue, can lean more towards the cooler spectrum of the color palette. The eyeliner enhances the shape of your eye, and together with the color you choose, it can be applied to both upper and lower lids.

Apply a blusher and a lip-gloss and you're ready!

Three Different Methods of Cosmetic Dentistry - Contouring, Bridges, and Cosmetic Teeth Whitening

These days, most everybody would like to have cosmetic dentistry enhancement. Everybody could use a brighter, whiter smile (or even perfectly straight teeth). Celebrities and movie stars consider cosmetic dentistry a must-have to be successful. Why should the common person do without? The answer is: they should not.

Cutting-edge technology and advanced procedures have greatly reduced the cost of cosmetic dental procedures to a level that practically everyone can afford. While there are certainly quite a few methods for enhancing your teeth and smile, this article will focus on three procedures: bridges, teeth contouring, and whitening.

Let us presume that you still have all your teeth. Let us also assume that your teeth are relatively straight. But what if a couple of your teeth are somewhat longer than the rest, or have small chips in them? What can be done? Tooth reshaping and contouring will certainly help. It can alter the length of your teeth as well as reshape them. It is one of the least time-consuming methods currently available to enhance your teeth. The process is fairly straightforward.

For every tooth that is too long, your dentist will have to trim enamel from them. If you have a few teeth that need to be longer, the most probably solution is to add laminate to them in order to increase their length. The overall goal is to align your teeth and increase (or lessen) their length so they are in proportion to your adjacent teeth.

Contouring is considered to be a very safe procedure because only a minimal amount of enamel is removed from your teeth. It is also a relatively quick process and is usually completed in only one or two visits to the dentist. Although it is most assuredly a quick fix, its life expectancy is considered to be ten years or less.

Bar fights, cavities, and car accidents can lead to missing teeth. A missing tooth should be replaced as soon as possible with an implant or possibly a bridge. If there is considerable time delay when replacing a tooth, your nearby teeth may shift and move slightly from their position, which might lead to even more problems.

A bridge features two crowns and an artificial tooth between them. The artificial tooth is called a "pontic". It will take the place of your missing tooth.

To properly install your bridge, your dentist must remove some enamel from each tooth that sits adjacent to your missing tooth. Once the right amount of enamel has been removed, your dentist will craft a mold of your teeth and then forward it to a dental laboratory. While the lab creates your custom bridge, you will need to wear a temporary one. When your dentist finally receives your new bridge, you will need to visit him or her again, and he or she will permanently cement the bridge into position. The life span of a bridge is somewhere between ten and fifteen years.

Coffee, soda, and tea consumption leads to stained and discolored teeth. The more often you consume any of those beverages, the more probable your teeth will lose their natural luster.

Whitening your teeth is a simple solution for getting your white smile back. The goal for every teeth whitening system is to lighten your teeth by at least several shades.

While there are many brands of over-the-counter whitening kits you can purchase from your local grocer, your dentist has access to chemically balanced whitening kits that will brighten your teeth safer and faster than store-bought kits. Plus, the effect will last quite a bit longer than over-the-counter kits. Here is a list of a few of the procedures that your dentist can offer you: chemical whitening, laser whitening, abrasive, and acid whitening. Your dentist can even provide a whitening kit that you can bring home and use at home.

Technological advances continue to improve cosmetic dentistry techniques - costs keep getting lower while procedures keep getting better and easier to perform. The most recent materials are far superior to compounds that were used just a few short years ago. If you want to have a beautiful smile, I suggest you make a phone call to your local dentist and make an appointment.

Beauty and Health - What it Means to You Today

The concept of beauty is not easy to define. In many societies physical beauty is seen to have acceptable norms but some of those norms still vary between cultures. Over time, we have started to see the use of many different products that enhance and maintain personal beauty. We also see a more useful emphasis on health as an important part of beauty. All this raises many questions. Do we expect more from our physical presentation than our ancestors? What brought us to where we are today? We now have access to a wide range of natural, synthetic and medical products that support this but what do we choose to use?

Historical Beauty Concepts

Is beauty more important today than it was in the past? Probably not, the struggle to represent beauty in art has been repeated over the ages to reveal that beauty exists consistently in many past cultures. These similarities cannot be ignored as we try to understand our need to look beautiful.

From ancient Egypt the royal bust of Nefertiti (wife of Akhenaton) is considered today a classical example of female facial beauty. Greek sculptors celebrated the beauty of both male and female bodies. Modern art has moved away from realism so beauty is more readily expressed through photographs.

Although we associate youth with beauty, there is a growing acceptance of maintaining beauty among mature people who are also developing a healthy lifestyle. So, what beauty products do we use today?

Natural Beauty Products

Many natural products are still used for beauty preparations. In England - cold tea bags refresh eyes, Japan - soya germs, rice and seaweed keep the skin soft, Spain - olive oil used in face masks, Latin America - avocado in hair conditioning, Italy - basil leaf for teeth whitener, Argentina - cream softens and moistens skin.

Modern Beauty Products

A number of products are obtainable for enhancing looks and healthy lifestyles. Teeth whitening products have been developed and used by dentists are also available to the public. Hair products are at hand help maintain healthy hair. Cosmetic products are accepted as being safe when used as directed. Diet and exercise products and programs are becoming very popular. In choosing these products the user needs to look for simplicity in ingredients, follow manufacturers' instructions, and use moderately.

The beauty and health products available online are too numerous to find easily. There are a number of websites at hand that will identify and provide access to a limited number of popular products. That is where you need to go for ideas on acceptable beauty products.

Skin Deep Beauty and How to Keep it

Soil has been likened to the skin covering our bodies. Both suffer serious erosion from wind, water and sun damage if left unchecked. Sandthorn is one of those rare plants which have proven to be very useful in landscape restoration and cosmetic care of the skin.

Erosion Control
The Dust Bowl of the l930's was the most tragic land calamity ever to strike the North American continent. Cattle overgrazing by ranchers and over farming by sodbusters removed virtually all of the grasslands from America's prairies, leaving the unprotected soil to periodic rain washouts and frequent driving winds.

A story circulating in those days told of an old Nebraska farmer sitting on his front porch during a horrendous dust storm. When asked what he was watching so intently, he drolly replied, "Oh, I'm just counting them Kansas farms as they go flying by."

Such are the ways of erosion when the land isn't properly cared for as it should be. Similar examples have been found in northern China, Pakistan and portions of the Indian subcontinent, where the systematic removal of old growth forests and the continuous under plowing of surface ground have caused serious soil
erosions and landslides.

But agronomists soon discovered that the sandthorn shrub was extremely useful in helping bind earth and for good soil conservation measures; hence, millions of acres were eventually replanted with it.

The Living Barrier
Just as soil covers much of the ground we walk in, so does another type of material protect the delicate inner parts of our bodies against wear and tear, knocks and physical damage, and extremes of temperature. Skin is the body's largest and heaviest organ. It covers almost 21½-square feet (2 square meters) on an adult around 9 to 15 pounds (4 to 7 kilograms), representing about one-twelfth of the body's total weight. If you've ever worn an overcoat that heavy, then you would begin to appreciate how heavy your skin is.

Like a shower proof raincoat skin keeps out most of the water and other fluids to which it is exposed, although it is not fully waterproof. Water is repelled by the natural oils and waxes made in the tiny sebaceous glands just under the surface of the skin. These sebaceous products also keep the skin flexible arid supple.

Skin insulates the body too. Underneath is a soft, yellowish layer called subcutaneous fat. It works like the padding in a quilted coat to keep the body warm and also absorbs knocks and bumps.

The world is full of microscopic germs. They float in the air and lie on the things we touch. Even objects that are apparently clean have germs on or in them.

Skin prevents germs from entering the body. Under a microscope, the skin's surface shows many dead, flattened cells that interlock and overlap tightly, like tiles on a roof. Few germs can penetrate this barrier, which completely covers healthy skin. But they can enter the body through cuts or breaks in the skin.

The natural waxes and oils on the skin's surface contain germ-killing chemicals. These are the body's own disinfectants, giving added protection against bacteria, yeasts, and other potentially harmful microscopic organisms.

Dermatological Miracle
The landscape of the skin, much like that of the earth1 undergoes numerous transformations over a lifetime. It experiences different types of erosions brought on by the elements of weather, poor diet, emotional upset, overuse of chemical cosmetics, and gradual aging.

Two types common to many older people are rosacea and eczema. The first condition is characterized by dilation of the facial capillaries, acne like pimples, and sometimes thickened skin on the nose. Certain foods - such as tea, coffee, alcohol, and those that are spicy - are associated with worsening of rosacea. A recent study indicates that the heat in coffee or tea may be responsible.

Eczema is an all-encompassing term, sometimes used synonymously with dermatitis, to describe inflamed, scaly, itching skin that may be due to any number of causes. Recent reports suggest a possible connection between this problem and impairment in the skin's metabolism of the essential fatty acid linolenic acid. Patients with this condition improved when given supplements containing a natural source of gamma-linolenic acid.

A woman somewhere in her sixties, Lisa J. of Taylorsville, Utah suffered with rosacea of the face and eczema of the scalp for many years. But when she started drinking an exotic fruit blend containing 42 percent sandthorn berry extract, she began noticing improvements in her appearance. In just two weeks most of the dry, rosy red patches on her nose and face had disappeared. And within a month her scalp had healed as well. The dermatologist she had been seeing for some twenty years was surprised by the outcome of things on her next visit to him. She attributed this to her daily two-ounce intake of AlpineV with the sandthorn drink. He told her to stay with whatever she was doing.

The Beauty in Fatty Acids
Fatty acids are common denominators for all life forms. Not only the amount but also the type of dietary fat plays major roles in maintaining health. The human body absolutely requires certain essential fatty acids in the forms of alpha-linolenic acid (an omega-3) and linoleic acid (an omega-6). That is why they are termed "essential" fatty acids (EFP's).

But most people are deficient in them and don't even know it. Data from the 2006 Health & Wellness Trends Database, created by the Natural Marketing Institute of Harleysville, PA, show that almost one-third of the general population were deficient in omega-3's. An even higher percentage were considered deficient in gamma-linolenic acid (GLA) (another omega-6 EFA).6 Yet all three of these EFA's are vital to the health of the skin. A few placebo-controlled studies over the past 15 years have demonstrated that they improve the symptoms of rosacea, eczema (sometimes called atopic dermatitis) and similar inflammatory skin problems.

It so happens that sandthorn berries are high in all three of these essential fatty acids,8 including others to be mentioned in the next chapter. Sandthorn yields 20-36 percent alpha-linolenic acid (an omega-3) and 35-43 per cent linoleic acid (an omega-6).9 Patients with eczema were given sandthorn berry extracts for four months; during follow up they showed substantial improvement in their condition. The results were attributed to the high content of EFAs.10

Nature's Own Cosmetic
"A man of forty-five looks distinguished, but a woman of the same age is over the hill." So wrote feminist author Nancy Friday in her mind-jarring book, The Power of Beauty. "We live in a culture, she continues, "that trades in the currency of seeing and being seen. We want beauty not just for others; we want to look the way we feel, which is quite young, quite strong, and quite beautiful, although we are maturing."

Nature has provided the "natural cosmetic" for women to achieve this. It lies within the beautifying elements of the sandthorn berry. Palmitoleic acid is a principal constituent of skin fat and helps to maintain skin softness while minimizing wrinkles. Sandthorn has a very "high content" of this important omega-7 fatty acid, "which is uncommon in the plant kingdom," says one noted authority.

Conditions of skin inflammation also fare well with this particular berry. Japanese and Russian studies have shown extracts of sandthorn will reduce inflammation and promote the regeneration of new skin in many instances. My own father Jacob Heinerman took daily intakes of a certain beverage containing 42 percent sandthorn berry for the last six months of his life (he passed away in his sleep at age 93 in early Feb. 2007). His skin before this was as thin and delicate as parchment paper. But when he went on the berry juice the skin on his hands and forearms began getting back some of their natural tone and elasticity. To me, this was the greatest testament of all to sandthorn berry being nature's own cosmetic miracle for recreating skin deep beauty lost years before.

Six Explanations Why Folks Opt For Cosmetic Surgery

To care for one's outer appearance is a human habit. However, throughout history human society has always valued outward looks at the expense of character attributes. To modify one's image for personal gain is thus a well-known theme. In recent history more and more folks have sought out cosmetic surgery to alter aspects of the physical body. Although a controversial issue, here are six reasons why people opt for this radical life-changing medical procedure.

The first motive can be attributed to widespread cultural and media images forever disseminating messages and pictures about perfection in appearance. Today's westernized cultures place great emphasis on looking and feeling young, equating these with fulfilling lifestyles. For some, beautifying through clothes and other fashionable accessories are simply not enough. Not contented with physical looks, many individuals try and achieve an ideal beauty standard by going under the knife.

Another reason has to do with perceptions and expectations. Folk choosing to enhance the figure through medically altering parts of the physique has the perception that this will change one's own and other people's impressions favorably, especially pertaining to judgments about an individual's intelligence and performance. It's also a self-confidence booster, and adds to an individual's social status and social mobility. In other words, the procedure is a tool for impression management.

The third motivating factor is related to the above. People change unattractive aspects of the body to make a favorable impression so as to secure job opportunities and advance professional careers. Research shows physical appearances have a significant influence on personal earnings and workplace promotion. It comes as no surprise therefore that during times of economic crises and work scarcity, there tends to be a rise in the numbers of persons seeking figure-changing operations.

Historically, women have been under far more cultural pressure than men to adhere to standards of physical beauty. The issue here is that the female sex undergo significantly more body-changing medical procedures precisely for this reason. The relatively novel consumerist drive for men to look young, fashionable and maintain beautiful healthy bodies is a very late arrival on the modern-day scene.

But having said this, times are changing and today men are just as concerned about looking youthful and physically attractive. The fifth reason has to do with the fact that the stigma associated with undergoing plastic surgery has largely vanished, making it easier for large numbers of men to consider surgically modifying suspect body parts. As with women, the aim is to improve the overall figure, self-esteem, and professional image.

Another reason for the increasing popularity of surgical procedures is because it is relatively safe and effective. But due to the high cost, many women wishing to change aspects of the appearance opt for cheaper but riskier and unhealthy means. The potential complications resulting from genuine surgical alterations are far less, given the evolving advanced techniques that efficiently enhance and remodel the body's appearance.

In short, everybody is concerned to some degree with physical looks and its effect on others. And cosmetic surgery provides people that can afford it a way to enhance physical appearance and self-esteem, with the promise of a more productive and happier life. These six reasons hopefully offer some insight as to why individuals opt for this still controversial procedure.

Cosmetic History Worldwide - Beauty and the Beast

Cosmetic is synonymous to women and we say this because billions of dollars are being spent by women on cosmetics to increase their beauty quotient. Cosmetics are an indispensable part of a woman's life - the love for beauty-enhancing elements cuts across all strata of society. In my effort to dig into the cosmetic history and unearth the love affair between women and cosmetics, I came across many interesting facts that I wish to share with all my readers.

Delving into the history of the use of cosmetics, we know that the Egyptians were the ones who started it all (sometime around the 4th century BC). There are historical evidences of the Egyptians using eye paints, scented oils and even animal fat based creams. These cosmetics were used by the women of the upper class in order to enhance the beauty of their facial skin and even treat skin problem like wrinkles, stretch marks, scars, hair growth etc. This brings us to an interesting conclusion i.e. there has not been any major shift in the purpose behind the usage of cosmetics.

The Western part of the world was a late entrant into cosmetic history and the use of cosmetics and it all started during the middle ages. Here too cosmetics were an elite affair and the commoners were bereft of this luxury. The use of cosmetics was not taken in a very positive way by the Church and it ultimately banned its use. Queen Victoria extended her support for the Church's position. Thus cosmetics found its new lovers in the brothels where it adorned the faces of prostitutes. An interesting twist to the story came with Hitler declaring that cosmetics were better suited for the faces of Clowns and women belonging to the master race should shun its use.

The next two hundred years witnessed a rapid growth in cosmetic usage and even women belonging to the lower strata of the society started to use cosmetic products. The 18th century was very significant in terms of the changes in technology for the production of cosmetics. The French started to use new methods, chemicals and natural ingredients. Safer chemicals like zinc oxide were being used as the base and the use of lead or copper was abolished. At the end of the 19th century, the first beauty salons were set up.

Rapid use of makeup cosmetics started from the early 1930s; actresses and theater artists started to use make up in their films. Sarah Bernhardt and Jean Harlow spearheaded the so-called cosmetic movement and made the use of cosmetics fashionable. After World War II, there was rapid growth in the cosmetic industry where more and more women started using cosmetics. Soon with the introduction of electronic media like TV and Radio, cosmetics became a part of every woman's life.

To date the significance of cosmetics has not reduced, but in fact, increased in the life of women. It is now over a 50 billion dollar industry. However, as its history evolves, cosmetics will take on new meaning. Past cosmetic history focused on women's beauty and the culture of anti-aging. The future will focus on the dangers inherent in the continued use of synthetically formulated cosmetic products. These synthetic chemicals have proven to be toxic in nature, and over time, clinical studies will prove them to be hazardous to one' health. Many of these toxins have already been linked to cancer, birth defects, infertility, liver and kidney malfunctions, and much, much more.

Recently, a lecture was presented by the Environmental Working Group, the EWG. Their mission is to protect children from the effects of toxic chemicals in the food, water, air, and products we use daily. Without getting into too much detail here is a summary of the findings of the EWG as it relates to cosmetic products.

Women, on average, use 12 personal care products daily that expose them to 160 toxic chemicals; 10 babies, still in their mother's womb, were tested for chemicals in their bloodstreams with these results; 287 toxic chemicals were found of which 134 were linked to cancer; 151 were linked to birth defects; 186 were linked to infertility; 130 were linked to the immune system, and so on.

Now, if one questions what this all means, consider the following statistics; there has been an 84% increase in Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia in children from 1975 to 2002; a 57% increase in brain cancer during the same period; a doubling of Hypospadias (birth defect of the urethra in males) in infant males in the same period; sperm counts in men are dropping at a rate of 1% per year; 1 in 8 women will get breast cancer; 1 in 3 women will experience some form of cancer in their lifetime; 1 in 2 males will experience some form of cancer in their lifetime.

That is enough statistics to give you pause in the cosmetic products used daily. Past and future articles will delve deeper into this subject. For now, historically, we have presented the two sides of cosmetic history. The past emphasized the beauty aspects of personal care products, while the future should and hopefully focus on the dangers inherent in the daily use of toxic-laden cosmetic products.

How to Blend Essential Oils For Natural Beauty and Soap Making

In the process of soap or cosmetic making, many essential oils are blended together to give women the natural beauty she craves for. This whole process itself requires considerable skill and talent as different kinds of fragrances as well as products having medicinal properties have to be blended in certain prescribed proportion only. On many occasions, different blends require many trials even before they are finalized.

The essential oils that make the blends are floral, resin, earthy, spicy, citrus, medicinal or herbaceous oils. Essential oils are characterized on the basis of their aromatic effects-top note, middle note as well as bottom/base note.

Once classification is established and learned it will be much easier to blend different scents and oil properties. But their are some things you should know before you start the blending process.

First, it is very important to make sure that your oils are pure and fresh. It is also important to make sure you are using the appropriate oil because each oil has different requirements and necessities associated with it. The oil should be pure as well as of good quality, and not fragrance oil (fragrance oils are much different than essential oils). You also require small glass bottles with tight caps, diffusers as well as carrier oils. To start with you can make use of the floral oils; these oils can be blended very easily and also give the results we long cherish. You can blend floral oils with citrus, spicy as well as woodsy oils. These woodsy oils can easily get blended with different kinds of oils in different categories.

Besides it is suggested not to have many blends constituting spicy and citrus oils, as they can cause difficulty in blending and also don't give that aromatic effect as we desire. It is also important to know that while blending, oils are to be added in drops to ensure not to have more than requisite blending. Ratio of blending is 30-35 per cent for the top note, between 40-50 per cent for middle note, and bottom/base note in the quantity of 20-25 per cent.

For diluting a mixture, a general ratio for 1 tablespoon of your desired carrier oil is 2 to 5 drops of essential oils. Once they are ready, you need to store it in tightly capped bottle preventing any kind of contamination, mishandling as well as leaking. If blend is very strong then it is all the more necessary to add some quantity of carrier oil to the mixture for diluting your natural beauty product or soap a little.

There might be some occasions where you will find certain blends smelling wonderfully while some very medicinal, spicy or too strong. It is better to note down each essential oil blend as it will help you in recreating the blend in future.
